Act from Awareness That Everyone Shares the Same Air

Facts on idling can be obtained from the EPA's web page on the school-bus anti-idling campaign. Check the current air quality in Atlanta before starting outdoor (or polluting) activities.

One of the biggest burdens on the atmosphere is use of energy from burning of fossil fuels, which results in local smog; acid rain that is endangering forests, lakes and streams; nitrogen pollution affecting all bodies of water; and greenhouse gas emissions causing climate change. See the Try This page on Week One for more energy-related links.

For good news, namely an example of how international action is averting a threat to the atmosphere, allowing the ozone layer to heal, see the EPA's Ozone Depletion web page.
